Please, for anyone submitting voice acks don't edit your files with effects. Or, if you really must, please send both edited and non-edited files.

If everyone puts different effects on their vocals, the effect will be very unprofessional. It is important that all the 'radio effects' sound exactly the same for all units.

Hello, new guy here, but I thought I could lend my voice to this project. I can do the following accents:

British (Cockney, Proper), American, American Southerner(Texan, Georgian, Tennessee), Russian, German, Italian, French, Indian(American, India), Mexican, Canadian, and Arabian, in various degrees of pitch and tone. Here's my take on the Alliance cargo hauler (Canadian, medium pitch):

Those are .WAV files FYI. I have the rest of the cargo hauler lines on Media Fire, and I also have the LAAT and the Imperial Tank lines on my computer. I'm sorry I wasn't able to send it via email. Mine is currently down, but I can get access to someone's computer tomorrow to get the rest of the files to you.

So are these acceptable? I can clean them up and increase the volume, but you said you wanted raw, unedited files.

The vocals are pretty decent (although the accent can at times be difficult to understand, eg "Cargo Hauler!"), the biggest issue is the static on the mike and background noises. The range of the recording also sounds slightly limited, but it's not too bad. Is it possible for you to fix these? Perhaps you can borrow a different mike from someone?

The only other issue would probably be to upload these on a less ad-spammy site, or just email a zip to starwarsspring @ gmail [dot] com

Looking forward to hearing you trial some of the other accents.

Not a problem. I go to a church that has a decent sound system; I'll see if I can borrow their mic for an afternoon. Alternatively there is a recording studio in my town called "Poor Man's Recording" which may be cheap enough that I can probably do it there. Each ack is only a few seconds long so it shouldn't cost too much to do that.

I can send you an email with the rest of the Cargo Hauler, as well as the TX-130 and LAAT recordings. Regarding one of the cargo hauler's lines you will hear, the mechanical sound of the gravity locks is my voice. Don't worry, it's better than it sounds.  Wink

We don't want you spending any money on this, as we can't promise 100% that your acks will be used (though if we get some clean ones from you, it is likely that they will). That's just a general rule that we have, because we're a fan-produced game we can't expect anyone to pay for anything, because there is no guarantee that any promises can be fulfilled.

By the way, did you receive my email, and if so, any suggestions? More intense on the accents, less intense, parts you felt didn't sound right, etc.? If I'm going to lend my voice, I'd like feedback. Don't worry about being soft on me; I'm used to criticism and take it very well.  Smiley

Is this still open?
If so, then what units still need voiced?
(I can do zerg-like alien/creature noises as well as normal or mechanical voices/sounds)
I also have access to my brothers recording studio, so any recordings should be good quality. Smiley

Ive done voice acting on my own toons beforehand. It will be a headset mic that I will use, but I know how to edit it and record to a certain extent using Audacity editing program of choice for moi.

I can whip up a flash soundboard of my different vocal stuffs if thou wishes?

Do you still need more voice actors?  If so, I have both British and American accents.  I have little knowledge of adding effects.  However, I'm always ready to learn.  Anything to aid in the creation of an OPEN-SOURCE Star Wars RTS!
