Don't worry, we can be patient!  Smiley

Also, there are several free audio editing software packages available, the most well known being Audacity. For basic level editing, you don't really need much more complicated software.

We can't guarantee that we'll use whatever you produce, so don't go purchasing the software unless you really want it and think you will use it in the future.

I'm sorry this is taking so long, I had to get an Imac because my computer was on the verge of death. I will probably get started this weekend (again, sorry)

So i'm a little confused, do you guys still need voice actors for every unit? or do you have some done.

And we send the recordings VIA email at :starwarsspring@gmail.com

We have some done, but we certainly need more. Plus, in some cases, we've had one person voice many units, so as long as the quality and acting is good then we'd love to have more variety.

Record a few samples for us (and having read your post in the signup thread, have your friends do some too) and email them to that address, yes. You can use the ones we provided on the first page of this thread for your "audition", or you can improvise some stuff if you want as long as it's on-topic. Improvs could include movie quotes and such if you're trying to show us a particular accent. Once we hear your clips we'll send you some scripts we've written based on your accent and what needs done.

[edit] To be clear, we probably don't need acks for every unit--things like fusion power generators really don't need voice acting. Basically only combat units and a handful of others really need voice acting.

Yes, we definitely do need sounds, but as I said earlier, we can't really guarantee we will use your stuff until we hear some examples first, so I can't really encourage you to go and spend money on sound-editing software. But if you're going to buy it for your own uses, go for it, we'd love to hear what you can produce!  Thumbs up

Yeah, as I said at the top of this page, audacity is very good. You don't strictly need proprietary software unless you're at a professional level...

this is an assumption that doesn't always hold true, actually i have plenty of examples, just not in audio.

anyhow, a good microphone is $$$ well spent, but software... may be unnecessary expense.

See the first post of this thread, Mr. Cactus - there are a few units for you to voice that we use as audition templates. Record those, send them in to us (or upload here) and we'll get back to you with which units we want you to voice Smiley

Just out of curiosity... what's your preferred file format?

WAV or the audacity format, whatever that is. MP3 is ok too if you have to but it should be the last choice since it's lossy. The end product (after radio filters etc) has to be wav.

Because they are illegally sourced from Star Wars games.

I think all the major effects like the engine noise, etc, should be added by one person so it doesnt sound too different. Also, I would like to maybe do the LAAT gunship. I'd love to try. Contact (PM) me.

Arcade, check the first post for details on audition submissions; you need to record the lines for the LAAT then send them to the email address listed there.

Jedi Master Reporting for Duty!

« Reply #52 on: March 30, 2009, 10:39:05 PM »

hi, I am a HUGE Star Wars fan, and Empire at War was awesome, but I stopped playing because of the lack of not having many troops, and that you could only play as Imps vs. Rebels. Anyway, I went back to playing SW: Galactic Battlegrounds, and I realized that the voice acting stunk! Thumbs down

Anyway, you get the picture, I like Star Wars RTS's, and I wish that I could be a beta tester, but I only meet one of those requirements, and my mod was a skin for JKA, and it wasn't that good.

Anyway, I would like to do some voice acting for this mod, I love voice acting, even though I never done it FOR something before. Is it ok if I send you wav. files in a Zip folder?

I am not sure if I could do it, but if I can, you will get an email, ok Smiley

thank you for this opportunity Wink

EDIT: I sent you some Wookie sounds, hope you like them Wink  PS: there should be more where that came from!

just stick to it. I never stuck to my voice acting promises, and look what I got... nothing. I can't do much other than procrastinate...

(I still CAN make songs if you want me too. The makers of the old 2D clone wars cartoon put in new songs, so I don't see the harm of me making some for you)

I could voice act, however i would edit the sound. It would be drowned with effects, but would work great on the units.
